American Certified Sports Dentist made Sports Guard
Mouthguards are the horseshoe-shaped appliance that fits exactly over the teeth and gums, cushioning them and protecting them from damage. Mouthguards or SportsGuards offer protection against sporting injuries to the teeth. They mostly helpful in preventing broken and damaged teeth and broken or dislocated jaws. As per the American Dental Association (ADA), more than 200,000 oral injuries are prevented each year by wearing a mouthguard. At Dental Cosmetic Center of Edison, we provide customized sports guards made by American Sports Academy Certified Dentists.
Sleep apnea is a potentially serious sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts. Sleep apnea oral appliance therapy involves the use of a specially designed oral sleep appliance (looks like an athletic mouthguard) that maintains an open, unobstructed airway in the throat when worn during sleep. It is prescribed for people who report or show signs of snoring loudly, bouts of awakening gasping for air during the night, night-time teeth grinding, feeling tired after a full night's sleep, or excessive daytime sleepiness.
Teeth grinding/ clenching at night or during the day can cause wear on teeth leading to loss of tooth structure/ tooth pain and/or load and pain in facial muscle and joint. People who grind their teeth may also have sleep apnea and may wake up with sore muscles of the jaw in the morning or headaches or neck pain. An oral appliance may help relieve the tension from the joint/muscle and teeth of the head and neck region.
